PROBUS Club of Port Perry
Important Notice
CLUB ACTIVITIES CANCELLED OR SUSPENDED THROUGH EARLY MAY 2020
As a direct result of the public health recommendations related to the COVID-19 virus and the risks to our members and guests, the following cancellations and suspensions are in effect for activities of the PROBUS Club of Port Perry:
1.) The March 17th membership meeting was cancelled.
2.) The April 21st membership meeting is cancelled.
3.) All interest group activities are suspended effective immediately and until May 7th. This does not include virtual activities and those through social media.
4.) The April 18th Spring Fling Dance is cancelled. Cheques received by the club from individuals for the dance will be destroyed unless the cheque issuer advises Ann Skinner on the Social Committee (at 905-982-8865 or skinntj@gmail.com) by April 3rd that the cheque is to be returned.
5.) The Oshawa Little Theatre performance of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” on April 4th has been tentatively postponed by the theatre to May. As a result of the change, the club has cancelled its participation due to the schedule uncertainty and the limited flexibility of ticket changes if the postponement date is accepted. Cheques already received by the club from individuals for the performance will be destroyed unless the cheque issuer advises the club treasurer (Bill Morrison at 905-985-2624 or at treasurer.portperryprobus@gmail.com) by April 3rd that the cheque is to be returned.
6.) We have cancelled our club’s attendance at the Oshawa Little Theatre performance of “Cinderella” for May 16th.
7.) The March 24th Irish Kitchen Party tour was cancelled by the tour provider (Cardinal Coach Tours) who will issue refunds to those who signed up and paid.
8.) While club-sponsored events scheduled in June and beyond are not being cancelled at this time, the club will not be selling any further tickets to those events until we have more certainty of the public health recommendations in place for those specific locations and times. Those events include the club's Anniversary Luncheon on June 11th, a Herongate Theatre production on June 18th, and a visit/lunch to the Lucy Maud Montgomery House on July 18th. We will keep you informed as circumstances change regarding these events.
9.) The travel opportunities which are scheduled between June and October this year that were in last month’s newsletter (and are on the website) remain uncertain at this time. Anyone who has signed up for any of those trips should check with the tour provider(s) as to the status of the trip and any potential cancellation of it. In addition such individuals who may be considering cancelling such a trip or are concerned about trip interruption and travel insurance provisions should also check with their trip insurance provider in the event that such coverage may be terminated in the near future by the insurer (as is happening elsewhere).
