Social Events between meetings can range from sporting events, live theatre, travel, visits to places of interest, to any other activity that the Social Committee wishes to organize. These are usually one time events, one per month generally, but you can participate in as many events as you wish!
A description of events is shown below. If you are interested in participating in a Social Event, please contact email@example.com.
Please note that event costs will need to be pre-paid by cheque, payable to PROBUS Club of Port Perry and either:
handed in to our Social Committee Co-Chairs, Margaret Miller or Judy Spring at monthly membership meetings or
mailed to Social, c/o Judith Spring, 22 Crescent Moon Lane, Seagrave, ON L0C 1G0.
Only payment in full by the deadline confirms registration for the event, and events with limited attendance will be filled by members in order of when the payment is received.
If you are unable to sign up in person, please use email or phone to let us know you’re interested and to arrange payment. Refunds are only issued under exceptional circumstances, so if it turns out you are unable to attend an event, please offer your ticket to other members or guests.
If you have any questions or suggestions, or if you need directions or car-pooling, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call Margaret Miller at 226-229-9073 or Judy Spring at 905-447-4557.
Your Social Committee will provide as much advance notice of events as possible. Last minute sign ups may be accommodated depending on availability and the venue. Your understanding is appreciated.

Early September, 2020
Janet and Tim Casey are planning a week-long visit to the Burgundy wine region of France early next September and are inviting interested PROBUS Club members to join them. They will be returning to the beautiful medieval walled town of Beaune and use that as a base to explore the many vineyards, wine tasting opportunities, cooking classes, chateaus and historic villages and sites throughout the area. The weather at that time is normally quite temperate, the crowds are gone and the grape harvest is just coming in, so it’s a wonderful time to visit this land of iconic Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and Chablis.
Beaune is famous in its own right for its great food and wine with numerous Michelin award restaurants. It also has a variety of wine cellars, museums, galleries, art shows and shopping opportunities in addition to a lot of history in this 2,000-year-old town. And if you’re interested in possibly extending your stay, perhaps visit one of the other fascinating regions bordering Burgundy, or if you’d like to spend some time in Paris, the Casey’s can help provide some advice on that as well.
Contact Tim Casey at firstname.lastname@example.org or 905-985-3991.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CLUB MEMBERS
CLUB ACTIVITIES CANCELLED OR SUSPENDED THROUGH EARLY MAY 2020
As a direct result of the public health recommendations related to the COVID-19 virus and the risks to our members and guests, the following cancellations and suspensions are in effect for activities of the PROBUS Club of Port Perry:
1.) The March 17th membership meeting was cancelled.
2.) The April 21st membership meeting is cancelled.
3.) All interest group activities are suspended effective immediately and until May 7th
4.) The April 18th Spring Fling Dance is cancelled. Cheques received by the club from individuals for the dance will be destroyed unless the cheque issuer advises Ann Skinner on the Social Committee (at 905-982-8865 or email@example.com) by April 3rd that the cheque is to be returned.
5.) The Oshawa Little Theatre performance of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” on April 4th has been tentatively postponed by the theatre to May. As a result of the change, the club has cancelled its participation due to the schedule uncertainty and the limited flexibility of ticket changes if the postponement date is accepted. Cheques already received by the club from individuals for the performance will be destroyed unless the cheque issuer advises the club treasurer (Bill Morrison at 905-985-2624 or at firstname.lastname@example.org) by April 3rd that the cheque is to be returned.
6.) We have cancelled our club’s attendance at the Oshawa Little Theatre performance of “Cinderella” for May 16th.
7.) The March 24th Irish Kitchen Party tour was cancelled by the tour provider (Cardinal Coach Tours) who will issue refunds to those who signed up and paid.
8.) While club-sponsored events scheduled in June and beyond are not being cancelled at this time, the club will not be selling any further tickets to those events until we have more certainty of the public health recommendations in place for those specific locations and times. Those events include the club's Anniversary Luncheon on June 11th, a Herongate Theatre production on June 18th, and a visit/lunch to the Lucy Maud Montgomery House on July 18th. We will keep you informed as circumstances change regarding these events.
