Social Events

Social Events between meetings can range from sporting events, live theatre, travel, visits to places of interest, to any other activity that the Social Committee wishes to organize. These are usually one time events, one per month generally, but you can participate in as many events as you wish!  ​

ALL SCHEDULED EVENTS ARE SUBJECT TO PROVINCIAL COVID-19 REGULATIONS AND PUBLIC HEALTH ADVICE AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT.  PORT PERRY PROBUS REQUIRES THAT ALL MEMBERS AND GUESTS ATTENDING FACE TO FACE EVENTS BE FULLY VACCINATED. 

Wednesday, May 15, 2024 – Lunch - Bridge & Euchre at Colonel Mustard’s, 15 Water Street, Port Perry from 12 – 4 - $5.00 plus the cost of your lunch ordered from the menu. Please indicate your preference when you register to play bridge or euchre. Prizes for the winning teams. NEW DATE - Thursday, May 16 – Making Her Mark – Exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario - AGO (317 Dundas St. W. Toronto) and Lunch at Sin & Redemption (136 McCaul St., Toronto).  Approximately time 8:30 am to 4 pm.  Making Her Mark is an exhibit in collaboration with the Baltimore Museum of Art spotlighting women artists over four centuries.  Cost of AGO admission is $30 plus the cost of GO Train $12.70 for seniors and two subway trips to and fro $2.30 per trip required in exact cash or using Presto.  Lunch is optional and at individual expense.  We will encourage carpooling to the GO Train.  To register, please email social.portperryprobus@gmail.com.  For further information, please contact Judy Spring at 905 447-4557.

SOLD OUT Wednesday, June 5, 2024 – Walking Tour of Toronto Island – Timing is approximately  8:30 am – 4:30 pm with the 1-1/2 hours leisurely tour scheduled for 11 am.    Two long- time residents are leading tours to show you the homes, gardens and public spaces on Ward’s and Algonquin Islands.  In addition, there are now many Tiny Galleries throughout Ward's and Algonquin. These are gallery boxes installed in people's front yards to display the work of local artists. Some of the artists are selling their work if people are interested.  The cost is $36.00 per person which includes the tour and the ferry to the island.  Included in the cost is a bottle of water and granola bar.  Optional lunch will follow at the Rivera on Ward’s Island.  Members can take the GO Train as a group or car-pool. NEW– Friday, June 7, 2024 – Uxbridge PROBUS Club Invitation to join them for My Fair Lady at the Shaw Festival and lunch at the Prince of Wales Hotel - $200.00 ($210 for non-members) – Price includes bus leaving Uxbridge Walmart at 8:30 am returning about 7:30 pm, lunch, theatre, and time to browse in Niagara-on-the-Lake. NEW– Tuesday, June 18, 2024 - Social Tea (Lunch) following the Annual General Meeting – Hope Church , $25.00 – Price includes sandwiches and sweets, and tea and coffee. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 - Summer Barbecue and Concert in the Park – 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Palmer Park, Water Street, Port Perry. Please join us for a barbecue and civic concert featuring Irwin Smith. This is a subsidized and ticketed event with tickets selling for $5. Junior bacon cheeseburgers and pizza will be served. HOLD THE DATE – Thursday, August 15, 2024 – Lunch at the Blue Heron Casino and a matinee at Theatre on the Ridge, Scugog Shores Museum Village, 16210 Island Rd., Port Perry – 11:30 to 4:00. This excellent local theatre group will be performing The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) (Revised) (Again). All 37 of Shakespeare’s plays – performed in less than 2 hours. Fast paced, witty, and physical. It’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike. The Casino is located at 21777 Island Rd., Port Perry. Members will pay for their lunch individually.
